Ello, Pookie here. It’s been a while since I posted anything around here. Recently, I had a lot of free time on my hands so why not use it to post? Today in my country, we’re celebrating Victoria Day on honour of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.
Now, I know most of don’t know about this holiday and for those of you who do know then good job 😀 ! Just to let you guys know I’m going to type up this brief explanation about Victoria Day like I do for most holidays.
Victoria Day is a public holiday celebrated by the United Kingdom of Great Britain (Which consists of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland), Canada, Australia, and New Zealand but unfortunately these countries except Canada no longer celebrate it.
We celebrate Victoria Day on the last Monday before May 25th in honour of Queen Victoria’s birthday. I’m not really sure why we don’t celebrate Victoria Day on her actual birthday.
Well, that’s about it. Sorry for those of my American viewers for unneeded information a Canadian Holiday but I was bored. Oh and another thing we do during Victoria Day is sit back and watch the fireworks.
If you go down town to the Capital or a Province’s capital, you’ll see the firing of a 21- gun salute and you’ll see the Royal Union Flag (Union Jack) flying alongside the Canadian flag.
Happy Victoria Day~!
